rices down after market strengthening

Oil prices have made some significant losses as the bad weather subsides and the Saudi Arabian oil minister expresses satisfaction with the market.

sky London Brent crude dropped 52 cents to $58.49 (£29.99) per barrel while US crude shed 54 cents to $59.35.

While the recent snowy weather has cleared up, the Met Office has warned that cold snaps and further snowfall is likely to occur throughout the remainder of the month and into early March.

In addition, oil prices have been affected by the announcement from oil minister Ali al-Naimi that the market has been much healthier recently, hinting that the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries may not need to make changes to oil output.

"Most probably, if the trend is like what it is like today, with the market getting in much, much better health and balance, there may not be any reason to change," he is quoted as saying in the Wall Street Journal.

Meanwhile, investors are speculating as to whether cuts will be announced by the cartel when it meets in March, Reuters reports.

AFUE Ratings

While the AFUE ratings of an oil heating appliance may be lower than the “combustion efficiency” ratings of the appliance in the field, it is the rating that the homeowner should be most concerned about. Both of these ratings and their significance are fully explained in the Special Report.

Home Heating Oil terminology that can save you money

1. Budget Plans

Scheduled payments by the consumer to the heating oil company that is based on a calculated gross usage volume of oil used based on history. Normally it runs over an 11 month period. Some more progressive oil companies offer it over a full 12 months. This is good for the oil company since it spreads out their cash flow.

PRO: It's good for the home owner since it also spreads out their cash flow over the year so they don't have big payments 2 or 3 times a year.

CON: If the oil company isn't in good financial health they can spend that money and when heating season comes around, they don't have the money so they can't buy oil and the home owner is out the cash and out the oil. This has become a big problem all around the country.
